Víctor Cervera

 

Víctor Cervera holds a doctorate in Commercial Law from the Complutense University of Madrid (with a doctoral thesis on the legal regime of real estate investment funds) and a bachelor’s degree in Law from the Autonomous University of Madrid.

He has been a practising member of the Madrid Bar Association since 1993.
He held the posts of Director of Legal Advice and Secretary of the Boards of Directors of various business groups in the real estate, construction/engineering, public services and media sectors (SILVER EAGLE, ALCALÁ 120, HILL INTERNATIONAL SPAIN, GRUPO MALL, GRUPO BEGAR, among others), and was based in Spain, Mexico and Panama. He has extensive experience in the procedural and extra-procedural legal management inherent in those sectors, and in related financial and banking operations. He has also administered several major bankruptcy proceedings, directing the negotiations of credit structuring conditions with the creditor banks, planning the initiatives for the recovery of unpaid loans, and undertaking the relevant legal procedures.

 

In the field of university teaching, he has lectured as a PhD lecturer in Commercial Law at the Institute of Stock Market Studies (IEB), the Complutense University of Madrid, the European University of Madrid and Nebrija and the María Cristina University Centre, teaching both ordinary undergraduate and postgraduate courses and subjects on various courses and postgraduate master’s degree courses. In his capacity as Lecturer on the Doctoral Programme “The Law of Europe and Latin America: A Legal and Institutional Analysis” (organised by the UCM and the National Autonomous University of Mexico, taught in Mexico City and aimed at magistrates of the Superior Court of Justice of the Federal District of Mexico), he has taught the Doctoral Course on Banking Law and Financial Markets in the EU, and has also supervised two doctoral theses within the framework of the Programme. As a lecturer at Wolters Kluwer Formación, he has taught the Corporate Practice module aimed at KPMG staff professionals. He is currently a member of the faculty of the Francisco de Vitoria University.

 

He is the author of numerous studies on collective investment institutions, corporate law, asset management and real estate loans, financial markets and electronic contracting, which have been published in journals including Revista de Derecho Bancario y Bursátil, Gaceta de los Negocios, Actualidad Inmobiliaria, El Economista and various anthologies.
